In his message, Chairman Nicasio I. Alcantara emphasized the company\u2019s commitment to investing in infrastructure that support national development and address the country\u2019s growing power demand.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking ahead, we recognize the country\u2019s growing need for reliable, sustainable energy. We intend to meet this by investing in renewables while pursuing technologies that allow for stable and economic generation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Advancing Energy Security Through a Balanced Portfolio<\/b><\/p>\n
Amid rising power demand and the increasing call for sustainability, ACR believes that a balanced portfolio is the most responsible path forward \u2014 one that secures the grid today while transitioning toward cleaner sources.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis growing portfolio of conventional and renewable assets\u2014now totaling 428 MW\u2014lets us meet current needs while preparing for a cleaner and more resilient energy future,\u201d Alcantara said.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s current power assets include the 210-megawatt Sarangani Energy Corporation, a coal plant that uses circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology to provide dependable baseload power. Supporting grid stability are two diesel facilities \u2014 the 100 MW Western Mindanao Power Corporation in Zamboanga and the 103 MW Mapalad Power Corporation in Iligan \u2014 both delivering ancillary services.<\/p>\n
ACR is also nearing the completion of the Bohol In-Island Diesel Power Station in Ubay, designed to provide emergency and backup power during outages or natural disasters.<\/p>\n
In 2024, ACR marked a significant milestone with the completion of its first renewable energy project: the 14.5MW Siguil Hydro Power Plant in Maasim, Sarangani. Now operational as a must-run unit in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, the plant reflects the company\u2019s growing focus on clean energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeveral other renewable projects are in development, including the hydro facilities in Bago, Negros Occidental, and Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte and our solar projects in General Santos and Sarangani Province,\u201d shared Alcantara.<\/p>\n
With a pipeline of hydro and solar projects underway across Mindanao and the Visayas, ACR continues to invest in new technologies and partnerships that support the country\u2019s renewable energy goals.<\/p>\n
Powering with Care<\/b><\/p>\n
In addition to its energy projects, ACR remains committed to uplifting communities and protecting the environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur commitment extends beyond power generation.\u00a0\u00a0For it to be sustainable, growth must go hand in hand with care for people and the planet,\u201d said Alcantara.<\/p>\n
Last year, over 300 high school and college students in Sarangani, Zamboanga, and Iligan received educational support through the company\u2019s scholarship programs. ACR is also expanding its work in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), with a focus on strengthening the literacy and numeracy skills of young children in its partner communities.<\/p>\n
Environmental stewardship remains a core priority for the company. Under its Watershed Enhancement Program (WEP), ACR planted more than 60,000 trees last year \u2014 with a high survival rate of 96% \u2014 and offered training to local farmers on sustainable coffee farming practices, combining reforestation with livelihood development. Last year, 17 IP farmers under ACR’s WEP harvested more than 750 kilograms of coffee cherries. These have since been roasted and sold as quality-graded coffee, creating new income opportunities for the farmers.<\/p>\n
With a clear strategy and strong community partnerships, ACR remains committed to shaping an energy-secure and inclusive future for the regions it serves.<\/p>\n
ACR reported consolidated revenues of \u20b112.5 billion in 2024, slightly up from \u20b112.4 billion in 2023.
