Young people in Gympie can access a personalised program designed to help them develop their skills, confidence and direction for the future with no out-of-pocket expenses.<\/p>\n
STEPS\u2019 Get Set for Work Program<\/a>\u00a0is designed for 15-19-year-olds who have left school or are struggling within the traditional education system. It supports participants to explore new pathways and gain practical skills.<\/p>\n STEPS<\/a>\u00a0CEO Cassie Stanley said that the program has supported many young people in the Gympie region, helping them work towards employment, further training, or a return to school.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve seen firsthand how this program helps young people reconnect with learning, develop skills for the real world and develop their confidence,\u201d Ms Stanley said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is what STEPS is all about; providing opportunity and supporting people in our community to recognise their potential and reach their goals.\u201d<\/p>\n Delivered by experienced and compassionate trainers, the Get Set for Work Program includes nationally recognised training (FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways) alongside wraparound support such as transport and food, assistance with getting a driver\u2019s license, offsite excursions, and employer engagement opportunities.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery young person deserves the opportunity to thrive,\u201d Ms Stanley said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve seen the incredible impact that Get Set for Work has on young people \u2013 not just in Gympie, but in several other regions \u2013 and that positive impact has a real ripple effect throughout the community.\u201d<\/p>\n Get Set for Work is one of eight programs that make up the Queensland Government\u2019s\u00a0Skilling Queenslanders for Work\u00a0initiative. Skilling Queenslanders for Work funds not-for-profit community-based organisations to deliver projects that respond to the needs of local job seekers and employment opportunities in their area.<\/p>\n Applications are now open.
