\nutilizing automated 3D modeling (Scan to BIM) technology, and RATEC Asia is a
\nprovider of sales and implementation support for specialized equipment and
\nsolutions in the construction industry in Asia. <\/p>\n
Challenges in
\nSingapore\u2019s Construction Sites and Expectations for “Modely”<\/b><\/p>\n
Today\u2019s
\nconstruction industry emphasizes sustainability and efficiency. The precast
\nconstruction method, where building components are prepared in factories and
\nassembled on-site, is gaining importance from the perspective of quality
\ncontrol and time reduction.<\/p>\n
The demand
\nfor construction in Singapore has been on the rise in recent years, and the
\nprecast construction method has become more prevalent and widely used for
\nvarious applications. However, this has also highlighted certain challenges. In
\nparticular, the current situation requires thorough inspections by specialized
\ninspectors after the completion of rebar work. This often leads to
\ninefficiencies in the inspection process, causing delays that frequently affect
\nproject timelines.<\/p>\n
“Modely”
\nis a system expected to address these challenges. It utilizes 3D data to
\ncapture comprehensive information and is the only 3D rebar inspection system
\ncapable of automatically registering design values using rebar BIM and
\nconducting automated inspections by comparing with the as-built model. It will
\nsupport thorough inspections and BIM utilization in Singapore and allow for
\nremote inspections of rebar arrangements to ensure they meet design
\nspecifications without requiring inspectors to be on-site, resulting in
\nbenefits such as reduced timelines and improved quality.<\/p>\n
Expansion of
\n“Modely” in Singapore and the ASEAN Region<\/b><\/p>\n
The
\nconstruction industry in Singapore has been actively promoting digital
\ntransformation (DX) through collaboration with the government. The Building and
\nConstruction Authority (BCA) has made the use of BIM mandatory for design and
\ndelivery, indicating a strong foundation for the utilization of rebar BIM.
\nSince the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCA has also been promoting remote
\ninspections, and expectations for “Modely” have heightened toward
\nachieving further digital transformation.<\/p>\n
“Modely”
\nreceived the Startup Encouragement Award at the 2023 Infrastructure DX Awards
\nand has been adopted by over 100 companies, establishing a strong track record
\nin Japan. Through its partnership with RATEC and collaboration with the BCA, the
\ncompany aims to further accelerate the deployment of “Modely” across
\nASEAN countries. The company is working to register and standardize the system
\nas a remote inspection tool for rebar inspections, with the goal of expanding
\nnot only within Singapore but also throughout the ASEAN region.<\/p>\n
RATEC Asia
\nPte Ltd. was established in 2017 as a private limited company headquartered in
\nSingapore. It is a member of the globally recognized RATEC Group, known for its
\nmagnetic formwork technology and other advanced precast concrete production
\nsolutions. The company has a strong foundation in wholesale and distribution of
\ninnovative solutions for the precast concrete industry and operates across
\nnumerous Asian countries. It offers various products and services that
\ncontribute to digital transformation (DX) in the construction industry.<\/p>\n
When we first
\nencountered Modely at CSPI 2024, it immediately stood out from other solutions
\nwe\u2019ve seen. The ability to create precise 3D models simply by scanning with an
\niPad is incredibly appealing. <\/p>\n
Experiencing
\nModely\u2019s capability to accurately measure and document rebar spacing, we
\nquickly recognized its potential as an invaluable tool for enhancing remote
\ninspection and supervision, which could elevate these processes to new heights
\nin Southeast Asia’s Built Environment.<\/p>\n
While Modely is still in its
\ndevelopment and optimization phase in Southeast Asia, we\u2019re confident that the
\nteam at DataLabs Inc. will continue to refine it, improving the user experience
\nover time. This progress will be driven by end-user feedback, ensuring that
\ntogether, we make Modely even better for everyone.<\/p>\n
